Ka Lung Court Restaurant 嘉麟閣海鮮酒家

Not very happy with Ka Lung Court. We went to this place for CNY dinner because my sister had a good experience with it a few weeks before. However when we went, it was not what she had expected. When we were there, there was a huge 20 table gathering and the hall was not separated which was very annoying. Music was blasting and we had to sit through people giving speeches. A friend of ours even went as far as unplugging a near by speaker so that we can reduce the noise level from a 10 to a 9. Anyhow, the food wasn't great assuming it was because they had to serve this large group. The Geoduck fondue was not my kind of dish, especially when it was $129. I am always iffy about eating raw stuff at a Chinese place because preparing raw food for consumption is not our (the Chinese) forte. Anyhow, you do semi cook it but still, not my thing. Anyhow, the rest of the food came out slowly. The two eel dishes were good but everything else was mediocre. A couple of strange things to note, the shrimps in the Choy Pong Hai dish were sliced down the middle so it just looked like a whole shrimp but they were only half. I found that a little silly. How much money are you really saving and it ended up making the place look cheap. The paper wrapped pork ribs were recommended but it tasted like pork that has been put in the microwave with that strong pungent porky flavour. Hard to explain but those who experienced will know to never do it. Anyhow, enough said. Even though my sister said it was really good before, I will probably not want to revisit to test my luck.
