Prix Fixe Lunch at C5

Left Nacho home in the afternoon and decided to head to C5 for lunch. We weren't sure what to expect at first but was actually pleasantly surprised. There was a Prix Fixe Lunch there and for $34, and it included an appetizer, main and dessert. It was definitely a lot of food for lunch time but we were extremely hungry after our big workout so we went for it.

We both started with the seasonal soup which was a tomato and red pepper soup. Nick had the Cumbrae Farms Ribeye Burger with kim chi, roaring forties, tomato, bib lettuce and I had the cassoulet with Mike's sausage, confit pork shoulder, duck leg, baguette. (Please do not ask me who Mike is.) The burger was extremely juicy and my cassoulet was AMAZING. The pork shoulder and duck were extremely tender and flavourful and the meat went very well with the caramelized yogurt that they put on top. There was a little bit of fat on the pork but it was not heavy at all. It just melted in my mouth. Nick had a bite of the cassoulet and he said it might even be better than the one at Le Select. I died and went to meat heaven. :)

We were extremely full at this point but it did not stop us from finishing our dessert which was a big serving of White Russian, condensed milk panna cotta, espresso pound cake, with Kahlua granita. I just can't say no to coffee flavoured dessert.

C5 definitely got the Chans' thumbs up! I can see why it made it on Toronto Life Top 10 for 2008 and 2009. We loved the food, service, and interior. Everything was perfection. It felt so relaxing sitting in restaurant - mini escape right in the middle of downtown Toronto. This would be an enchanting setting for a modern wedding. Maybe for our 20th anniversary when we renew our vows!
