Stratus Winery

Modern, elegant, stylized, contemporary. Those are the words that come to mind when we think of Stratus. The tour and tasting were informative but I think when compared to Peller, they were not on the same level. I don't think any of the guests enjoyed the wine and even the tour guide said the red was too young and required to be aged more. The difference with Stratus and other local wineries is that they focus on the art of assemblage for winemaking. Assemblage refers to the crafting of several grape varieties to create layered wines of complexity, wines that are a true expression of the vineyard's terroir. The problem is, I think everyone enjoyed the site more than the wine experience. It was definitely a good contrast though from Peller Estate.
